This is my everyday car (which I also attend some shows with), though since retiring I’m not out in it very often.
In 2015 I was looking for a 240 estate to replace the one I had a few years previously. Another Volvo was decided on because it could be run as a daily driver and also shown at classic car shows. I had actually seen another one on a classic car sales web site but, after numerous attempts to contact the seller, I eventually gave up and looked elsewhere.
This car was on Ebay and the seller had put on lots of photos and a long description. He lived in Retford and, after arranging an appointment to view, I took the train there. The seller met me at the station and took me to his house where the car was and, after a good look round, I agreed to the sale.
While going through the sale process, the seller told me the history of the car. It is originally from the Bournemouth area and was owned by one family from 1991 until 2014 when it was purchased by a collector. He kept it for one year but had to sell it when he lost his garage/storage. The next owner, in Retford, bought it on a whim in July 2015 but unfortunately his wife didn’t approve and she gave him an ultimatum. As he really didn’t want to move out of the family home, he put it up for sale in September 2015, when I purchased it.
